Requires some easy assembly and digging a hole (approximately 1 hour installation time from start to finish). Simply install in the ground, drop in dog waste, and occasionally add Digester Powder and water for continuous break down of waste. Works like a home septic system by using Enzyme and Bacteria action to turn waste into a ground absorbed liquid. Improved plastic construction and materials makes this our most durable unit to date providing years of in-ground service. The Doggie Dooley is harmless to lawns, pets and shrubs and has the capacity to handle the waste of 1 large dog to 2 small dogs. Each unit comes with about a 6 month supply of Digester Powder (depending on usage) and has a step on lid opener. Individually boxed, suitable for re-shipping. Can be used in cold weather areas provided the unit is installed following Winter-time directions to dig below the frost line. Works well in all soil conditions except hard clay and heavy sand. It's all about installJun 25, 2009

I have had more than one of these in several different homes. I find they work but it requires more installation than you'd expect. To get the best out of it...dig the hole deeper than necessary and fill the bottom with stones and then top the stones with coarse sand (about 24" deep). This means digging a hole at least 5 feet deep. This helps drainage and extends the life of the project. As for temp. When I lived outside of NYC I discovered that you could drop a bird bath heater into the hole (muck)and maintain the enzyme action. All this is probably more effort than most people would consider but it makes a difference, especially the hole preparation.

Works, but costs too much for flimsy plastic.Mar 05, 2007
By M. Shilko This thing does work as advertised, but I guess I expected something more substantial. The only value in this thing is the hinged door that you can press with your foot. If you could dig a hole in the ground and put a door on it, you have everything this thing offers. I mean come on, $35 for some thin plastic and some screws. Valuewise this thing should go for around $10, and then I might buy one again.

The Doggie Dooley is a great idea. It took about 15 minutes to dig the hole and assemble the unit. It is a great way to keep the yard clean, even in the winter.
Waaaay overpricedNov 12, 2011
By sideout132 Great idea to break down dog waste instead of throwing it away, but there's no way this product should cost more than $5 - it's just five pieces of flimsy plastic with a hinge and digestive enzymes. You could make your own for much cheaper, considering that it's just a hole in the ground with a lid over it.
Keeping the enzymes active is a pain too - you have to keep the turd soup at the bottom of the hole wet and active, which means adding poop and water every day. Not very convenient if you only clean up after your dog a few times a week. I definitely wouldn't buy this again.

Tough to install but worth itDec 08, 2008

Not for cold climates. You have to use an eight inch drill and go four feet deep. This can prove to be quite a task. Make sure not to over cut the top where the dooley goes or you have wasted all of your time. Once you have your dooley set up follow the directions for the waist digestion. The most important thing is to keep it wet. Make sure to fill it with water every day or every other day for the first week and then do it at least once a week after this. You want your dooley to be a mushy mess at all times and it will work as long as you are over 40 degrees. This is much better than filling a trash bag in my opinion.
