Stylish, comfy and easy to put onAug 26, 2010 Over the last five years, I've bought three of these for my American Eskimo. They are comfy, attractive and easy to clean. I really like the way my dog looks in it, and I think he does, too!
Perfect for Senior DogsMay 02, 2010 These halters are great. I have two dogs, one is 12 and one 11. Niether had halters before but made an easy transition and are so much more comfortable. I especially like the soft lining in the entire halter. Slides over their fur and doesn't bunch or grab. Very very pleased.

I don't trust the plastic buckleFeb 13, 2010 Though my 55 lb dog has not broken the Planet Dog hemp harness, I really do not trust the plastic buckle that is the only safety on this harness. My dog is a good walker but strong--I am not sure this harness would hold her if she went for something full force. I recommend the Lupine step-in harness--it has both a sturdy plastic buckle and a double D-ring (where the leash is attached). In other words, it has two points of closure and there is no way that I can tell for the dog to break free. I bought a Planet Dog hemp harness when my dog grew out of her 3/4 inch Lupine step-in harness. I am going to stop using the Planet Dog harness and get her a larger Lupine harness instead. If you have a strong, muscular dog, I would not recommend the Planet Dog hemp harness. I have heard that the clip used to metal (see picture on Amazon). Now it is plastic (and not that heavy duty) and really does not seem to be solid enough to hold all dogs. I would hate to see any other dogs get hurt as a result of a flimsy clip design on this harness--some dogs need more support. That said, this would be a great product for less active dogs, even larger ones--dogs that are not likely to bolt after a rabbit or friend across the street, etc. If you are using a harness because you have the type of dog who can break a collar if he or she gets going, don't use this harness. It doesn't seem to be sturdy enough.

Awesome Harness!Feb 05, 2010 We have one dog that is a pretty good walker and another dog that PULLS!!! We like to call her tank! These harnesses have made walking the two of them a delight. The soft fleece on the inside protects their skin from iritation and the harnesses are sturdy. We ordered mediums for both of our dogs. Both are mixed breeds, one weighs approx 40lbs and the other approx. 60lbs. We were able to adjust the medium to fit both of them securely.
Both of ours have the plastic clasp instead of the metal clasp, and I actually prefer it. We originally had one of each, but the design on the one with the metal clasp is not exactly the same. The harness with the metal clasp ended up breaking beause the piece that held the chest band in place on the top broke. We exchanged it for the plastic one and have not had any issues since.

Not as safe as it looks.Jan 06, 2010 My 11 month old dog managed to break the clip of the hemp harness within 15 minutes, ran in the road, got hit by a car , broke her back & we had to put her down. Beware, I would hate for the same thing to happen to anyone else.
